Bernardo Arévalo, will visit the DR this Monday 18

The president-elect of Guatemala, César Bernardo Arévalo de León, will visit the DR this Monday, December 18, to meet with Dominican President Luis Abinader.

The arrival of the president-elect of the Central American country and his delegation is scheduled for 1:00 pm at the International Airport of the Americas “Dr. José Francisco Peña Gómez”, from where he will be transferred to the National Palace.

Upon arrival at the Government House, Arévalo de León will be received by the guard of honor and will receive the protocol honors.

Afterwards, the President-elect of Guatemala and President Luis Abinader will have a private audience and then will address the media in the Ambassadors Hall.

After his conversation with the media, President Abinader will offer a lunch to Arévalo de León and the delegation accompanying him, in the private dining room of the National Palace.

The departure from the DR of the Guatemalan president-elect and his delegation is scheduled for Tuesday 19 in the morning hours.

About the President Elect of Guatemala

César Bernardo Arévalo de León is a sociologist, diplomat and politician, who won his country’s elections on August 20 in the second round of voting, with 60.9% of the votes.

He is the son of former Guatemalan president Juan José Arévalo Bermejo (1945-1951).

Nominated by the Seed Movement, of which he was general secretary, he won the presidency of Guatemala this 2023 and had already been elected deputy in 2019.

On January 14, 2024, Arévalo de León will succeed Alejandro Giammattei as head of the Guatemalan State.
