Dominican Republic’s schedule for Tokyo 2020

The first duel of the islanders will be on Tuesday, July 27 at 23:00 hours Eastern time (12:00 hours on Wednesday, July 28 in Japan). The Dominicans’ opponent will also be the locals, the Japanese ninth.

On Friday, July 30, also at 11:00 p.m., the Dominican Republic will face Mexico. Both matches correspond to the group stage of the tournament ─in the other sector are the United States, Israel and South Korea.

For the moment, these are the only two confirmed matches for the Caribbean team.

For the tournament in Tokyo, manager Héctor Borg, who took the reins of the ninth team in April 2021 after Fernando Tatis Sr. resigned, assembled his squad as follows.

On the mound the options are: Luis Felipe Castillo, Ángel Sánchez, Jairo Asencio, Junior García, Gerson Bautista, Darío Alvarez, Jumbo Díaz, Jhan Maríñez, Raúl Valdés, Denyi Reyes and Christopher Crisóstomo.

The catcher’s office will be made up of Charlie Valerio and Roldani Baldwin. The infield is completed with José Bautista, Erick Mejía, Juan Francisco, Gustavo Núñez, Diego Goris and Jeison Guzmán.

The outfield will be patrolled by Johan Mieses, Emilio Bonifacio, Yefri Pérez, Melky Cabrera and Julio Rodríguez. Finally, the reserves are Leuris Gómez, Román Méndez and Eduardo De Oleo.
