Six DR golf courses among the top 50 in the Caribbean and Mexico

Six Dominican golf courses located in the cities of Punta Cana and La Romana, are listed among the fifty best golf courses of 2022 in Mexico, the Caribbean, the Atlantic Islands and Central America, according to the selection made by the specialized golf magazine
Golfweek.

Three of the golf courses are among the first ten positions, #1 Punta Espada, #3 Diente de Perro and #8 Corales Golf. The others are ranked #23 Dye Fore, #42 La Romana and #46 La Cana.

The award winners

The Punta Espada Golf Course, located in Cap Cana Ciudad Destino, was selected for the 12th time by Golfweek magazine as #1, having held this position for 11 consecutive years since 2008. It was designed by Jack Nicklaus in 2006.

At #3, Teeth of the Dog in Casa de Campo, La Romana, has a score of 7.52; it was designed by Pete Dye in 1971.

At #8, Corales Punta Cana Resort & Club in Punta Cana with a score of 7.14, was designed by Tom Fazio in 2010.

At #23, Dye Fore in Casa de Campo, La Romana with a score of 6.47, was designed by Pete Dye in 2002.

At #42, La Romana Country Club in La Romana, La Romana, has a score of 6.06; it was designed by Pete Dye in 1990.

And at #46, La Cana Golf Club at Puntacana Resort in Punta Cana with a score of 5.96, designed by P.B. Dye in 2001.

Winner selection

The fundamental judging criteria for rating golf courses are the ease and intimacy of the layout; the integrity of its original classic design and the quality of its modeling aimed at modernity; the natural setting and general lay of the land; the interest of the greens and surrounding contours; the variety and memorability of par 3, 4 and 5; the basic quality of its conditioning; the management of the landscape and trees, as well as the test of walkability through
the park.
