Judoists shine in Pan American and Caribbean Open in the Dominican Republic

The Tamaulipas Judo Team that participated in the Pan American Championship and International Open held in the Dominican Republic, had a brilliant performance with a total of seven medals.

Frida Maya from Tampico was confirmed as the absolute champion of the Pan American Championship and the Open after winning the gold medal in each of the competitions in the U-15 category in the -53 kilograms division.

From Ciudad Victoria, Sebastián Pérez (U-15) won the bronze and silver medals in the Pan American and Caribbean Open, respectively. While from the southern zone, from Tampico, Alberto Zamora (U-13) won the bronze medal in both competitions.

Other judocas, Victor Calzada and Kevin Lara, were among the first five places out of more than 15 competitors; Rafael Garcia also had a good performance although he did not win a medal.

All these athletes were accompanied by the coach and President of the Judo Association of Tamaulipas, Cecilia Martinez, who as usual was watching over all the athletes.

With this, the judo discipline confirms the great talent that there is within Tamaulipas in the new generations of judo players that in the future could be in different Olympic processes always with the support of the State Government through the Institute of Sports of Tamaulipas.
