The government of President Luis Abinader will provide all the necessary resources to prepare the Dominican athletes who will defend the tricolor flag in the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris, France, 2024, to be held from July 26 to August 11.
This was affirmed this Tuesday by the head of Mission of the Olympic Games, Miguel Camacho, during the inauguration of the office assigned to him by the Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) at its headquarters in the National District.
He pointed out that despite being inaugurated this Tuesday, the Chef de Mission office has been working hard in favor of the athletes for almost a year.
“We will have the necessary resources for the athletes to prepare themselves in search of winning medals for the benefit of the country. Remember that in Tokyo 2021, the country won five medals, three silver and two bronze,” Camacho stressed.
He recalled that they have been in two seminars as Chief of Mission, one that took place in the middle of last year in Texas, United States, and in the host city of Paris, in the world seminar of Chief of Mission.
Camacho was designated by the Executive Committee of the COD on December 22, 2022 as the head of Mission of the Dominican delegation that will go to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in July of this year.
He said that he is also scheduled to attend a last meeting in April to give the final touches to the preparation of the delegation of each of the countries, in our case, the Dominican Republic.
He added that the main idea of the Mission office is to provide the best services to the different federations and delegations, both in the matter of the classification of those who have yet to qualify as well as those who have already qualified.
“We have taken everything into account so that the delegation will be well represented when it is time to leave for Paris for the games,” he said.
On his side, the French ambassador in the country, Eric Fournier, considered transcendental the Olympic Games that will be celebrated in his country.
“It is an honor to be present here at the inauguration of this Mission Office for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games,” said Fournier.
He added that his country expects 15,000 athletes from 127 States for the Games, which will be divided into 54 sports disciplines, in addition to the presence of more than 20,000 journalists.
The president of the COD, engineer Garibaldy Bautista, said that the entity he presides will give all the necessary support so that the athletes represent the country in the upcoming competition.
While the Vice Minister of Sports, Franklin de la Mota, on behalf of the Minister Francisco Camacho, said that they have the support of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, of whom he assured that he is very concerned that the Dominican delegation has everything it needs for its participation in the games.
De la Mota said that all the resources that will be used in the preparation of the athletes are available.
