Anato reveals 6% increase in Colombian tourists to the DR

The Colombian market is consolidating its position as the third largest for the Dominican Republic. After the pandemic, Colombia has become a major tourist issuer and this 2023 has served to consolidate its position.

In the first seven months of 2023, more than 155,000 Colombians have visited the DR, making it the third largest group of international tourists, after Americans and Canadians.

Colombia also corroborates this data. The Colombian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (Anato) explained that the departure of Colombians abroad has increased in recent weeks by up to 6% over the previous year.

This has been largely helped by the take-off of the Dominican airline Arajet, which connects the Colombian cities of Barranquilla, Bogota, Cali, Cartagena and Medellin with DR. As a low-cost carrier, the airline has also helped to bring down ticket prices.
