Epifanio Lantigua 2023 Award recognizes journalistic work in the service of tourism

The Dominican Association of Tourism Press (Adompretur) recognized on Tuesday the valuable informative content provided by journalists through their coverage of one of the most booming and dynamic sectors of the Dominican economy, tourism, through the Epifanio Lantigua2023 Awards.

This nineteenth edition brought together the written and audiovisual works of 29 journalists from different parts of the country, who submitted reports to compete in eight regional and thematic categories.

Journalist Mayelin Acosta, from Hoy newspaper, emerged as this year’s Grand Winner with a series of reports questioning tourism development in the protected area of Saona Island, in addition to winning an award in the category of Written Press for these works.

In the Digital Press category, the work “Sargazo, lo bueno y lo malo de su llegada a las costas dominicanas” (Sargasso, the good and the bad of its arrival to the Dominican coasts), authored by the economy editor of Acento, Katherin Luna, was awarded.

Diario Libre also won this category, thanks to journalist Jessica Leonor, with the reports “Moca: historical, cultural and gastronomic route” and “Get to know Espaillat, the destination that surprises with its diversity”, for which she received an honorable mention.

Massiel de Jesús of the newspaper elDinero, shared with Leonor an honorable mention for her work “Isla Saona: paradisiacal, tempting and bathed in blue waters”.
