Puerto Plata promotes tourism to Puerto Rican travel agents

The Puerto Plata Destination Tourism Cluster (CTDPP), together with the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) and hotels on the North Coast, reaffirmed their commitment to promote the area in the international market, specifically in the cities of Ponce and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

With a roadshow to promote the destination of Puerto Plata, held on March 21 and 22 before some 130 travel agents, the delegation showed the characteristics that make the destination attractive, in view of the direct air connection offered by Silver Airways between the two countries.

The delegation was headed by Atahualpa Paulino, director of the Northern Regional office of Mitur; Birgitt Heinsen, president of the CTDPP; as well as representatives of the companies Blue Jack Tar, Amhsa Marina Hotels & Resorts, VH Hotels & Resorts, Viva Resort by Wyndham, Emotions by Hodelpa, Marien Puerto Plata and Hospitality Management Solutions.

During the events, coordinated through the Tourism Promotion Office (OPT) of the Ministry of Tourism in Puerto Rico, headed by Aida Virginia Martínez, a series of training activities were held, including a workshop to encourage affiliation to the Travel Regards DR program, which seeks excellence in travelers’ experiences. There were also raffles to win stays for the industry professionals Puerto Plata Road Showwho participated.

Paulino, on behalf of Mitur, highlighted the actions taken to improve the quality of the services offered by “The Bride of the Atlantic”, pointing out that thanks to these efforts, it has been positioned as one of the best and safest destinations for all visitors.

Heinsen, who made the presentation of the attractions and activities that make up the complementary offer of the destination, highlighted the support received by the participating agents and welcomed the support of the representatives of the host institutions, such as José Luis Rivera-Villamañán and Antonio J. Colorado “Tito”,

Meanwhile, the directors of the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce (PRUSACC), José Luis Rivera-Villamañán and Antonio J. Colorado “Tito”, showed great interest in continuing to promote projects that strengthen the bilateral relations that have historically existed between the two islands.
