SDQ MICE 2023 trade show opens with the participation of 100 delegates

As a tourist destination, it seeks to boost congress and meeting tourism with the new edition of SDQ MICE, which takes place from October 2 to 4 at the Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua Hotel & Casino.
In its 3rd edition, the business fair is coordinated by the Santo Domingo Hotel Association (AHSD), in alliance with Turenlace del Caribe and the Santo Domingo Tourism Cluster (CTSD), with the support of the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur) and other entities and companies linked to the sector.

Therefore, the president of the AHSD, Yudit Garcia, announced that “SDQ MICE will allocate an important part of its agenda to facilitate business with pre-arranged appointments and to promote programs for package tours to and from Santo Domingo, with other destinations in the Dominican Republic, so that we will be providing a more complete experience to our tourists”.

“In this edition we have buyers from 12 countries, and we have the participation of more than 37 local companies operating in the main tourist areas of the country, for which SDQ MICE represents a great opportunity to showcase their products and services and attract business,” he said.

Elizabeth Tovar, president of Turenlaces del Caribe and president of the MICE chapter of Opetur, spoke of the need to strengthen alliances between the different actors that make up the value chain of the tourism sector, stressing that “we need to integrate and train ourselves to be more competitive in attracting international events”.

Meanwhile, Fabeth Martínez, executive director of the AHSD and CTSD, explained that the agenda seeks to highlight the differentiating attractions, providing memorable experiences and showcasing destinations that connect with Santo Domingo, such as Santiago de los Caballeros, Juan Dolio and Punta Cana.

“We want each edition of SDQ MICE to become a platform for doing business and at the same time contribute to the enhancement of the cultural, historical and human assets that make the DR brand so attractive,” he pointed out.

The event was attended by Roberto Henríquez, deputy minister of Quality of Mitur; Biviana Riveiro, director of Prodominicana; Rosalia Feris, in charge of the Historic Center of ADN; representatives of the BHD, Popular and Banreservas banks, among other leaders of the sector.
