DR accredited by the International Airport Council

The Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC) and the Airports Council International (ACI- Airports Council International Canada) signed a Training Partner Accreditation Agreement, through which the Dominican agency, Academia Superior de Ciencias Aeronáuticas (ASCA), will provide courses under the standards and requirements established by the foreign institution.

The agreement between the parties contemplates that, once the IDAC becomes accredited as a Training Partner under the ICA Global Training program, the former will undergo an evaluation of the training facilities to be carried out by the foreign organization and commits to allow access to its training facilities and to provide reasonable assistance as may be necessary for the technicians sent to carry out the Training Partner Accreditation evaluation.

Professional Excellence

RD Acreditado Por Consejo CanadáACI, which promotes professional excellence in airport management and operations, through prior assessments, will determine if the IDAC ASCA facilities meet the requirements and upon completion of that process, the accreditation certificate will be issued making it an ACI Training Partner.

While ICA shall have the right to carry out inspections of the Host Organization’s training facilities from time to time during the accreditation period of the training partner in order to verify compliance, IDAC agrees to cover the reasonable costs of such inspection.

Furthermore, the ICA will assign suitable, qualified and competent instructors to deliver the courses and issue a certificate of completion to each participant who has successfully completed the courses.

ICA Guidelines

Meanwhile, the IDAC must ensure that its training facilities comply at all times with ICA guidelines, as well as submit, at least three weeks prior to the start date of each course, the list of participants who have enrolled, including the participants’ contact information.

Other IDAC commitments to ACI are to organize airport visits for ACI instructors and course participants, when required by the training, to ensure that ACI Approved Courses comply at all times with the Accreditation Guidelines, among others.

The signing of the Training Partner Accreditation agreement was led by the general directors of IDAC and ACI, Héctor Porcella and Luis Felipe de Oliveira, respectively; they were accompanied by Clara Fernández, director of ASCA; Bernarda Franco, Legal Director, IDAC; Gender Castro, DVSO Director; Mónika Infante, General Director of Arodom; Jasmin Fabré, in charge of Interinstitutional Relations of IDAC; Issa Castro, Director of Training Programs of ACI and Gurjit Gill – Director, AMPAP.

The inter-institutional cooperation agreement took place within the framework of the III Global Implementation Support Symposium of the International Civil Aviation Organization (GISS), which is being held in the tourist area of Punta Cana from April 30 to May 2, with the participation of representatives from 193 countries members of the specialized agency of the United Nations.
