Ministry of Tourism promotes country with digital travel

With an invitation to live a unique and incomparable experience in the RD, the public and private sector showed tour operators the different tourist attractions of the RD through virtual experiences of tourists.

“We are on our way to become the tourist power of the Caribbean”, expressed Collado when reiterating the new country goal in front of its main competitors.

Tourism is an industry that does not stop and the arrival of each visitor translates into development for the communities, he stressed while thanking the Colombians for choosing the RD as one of their favorite destinations.

Collado spoke during a roud show with travel agencies and tour operators held as part of the Anato fair, which runs from February 28 to March 1.

Industry does not stop

David Collado, during the presentation of the destination, said that after the recovery of the sector they are focused on promoting greater diversification with gastronomic, sports, cultural, adventure, health and religious tourism. He added that the bet is on the new destinations Miches, Cabo Rojo, in Pedernales, and Punta Bergantín, which is one of the tourism projects to be developed in the coastal province of Puerto Plata.

In this regard, Birgitt Heinsen, president of the Puerto Plata Tourism Cluster, pointed out that this destination is being relaunched and new projects are being incorporated, such as Punta Bergantín, which raises the expectations of the Dominican tourism sector.

Dozens of Dominicans reiterated the invitation from the various destinations in real time and showed the warmth and joy that characterizes the Creoles.

The digital immersion was fast but welcoming, the 27 Damajagua pools, Isabel de Torres Park, Playa Dorada and other ecological destinations of the city of cruises were offered to the more than 200 tour operators present.

The promise of Miguelina Ruiz, director of the Tourism Promotion Office of the Ministry of Tourism in Colombia, was that those visiting Puerto Plata will be seduced by the unparalleled beauty of its beaches, highlighting that this destination has a diverse offer that adapts to the needs of visitors ranging from cultural, ecological, sports, religious and adventure tourism.

Preferred destination

The digital intelligence team of the Ministry of Tourism showed a market analysis and preferences of the Colombian tourist to the service providers in which their preferences were evidenced, highlighting family trips, hotel stays and leisure travel.

They specified that in the last years the arrival of Colombian tourists in the RD has been increasing, to the point of representing last year 4.5% of the total number of foreign tourists that entered the country, which reached 306 thousand Colombians. Now the goal is to exceed 350 thousand tourists from that country.
