Asonahores recognizes the Tourism Cabinet for the record recovery of the sector

At the event celebrating the 60th anniversary of the organization, the past presidents of ASONAHORES were also recognized for their contributions to the tourism sector.

The Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (ASONAHORES) presented a recognition to the Cabinet of Tourism in the persons of President Luis Abinader and the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, for the record recovery that the sector has been presenting after the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The recognition was delivered at the event celebrating the 60th anniversary of the organization, where past presidents of ASONAHORES were also recognized for their contributions to the tourism sector.

The president of ASONAHORES, Rafael Blanco Tejera, affirmed that tourism is the fastest growing sector of the economy and that this recovery would not have been possible without the timely implementation of appropriate health policies in the country, as set forth by the Tourism Cabinet and executed jointly by the public and private sectors.

Today we celebrate the 60th anniversary of our ASONAHORES and we do so at the best moment of the recovery of our sector, with record tourist arrivals, an extraordinary hotel occupancy, with the reestablishment of jobs and excited to work hand in hand with President Abinader, Minister Collado, and his entire team, in the implementation of policies that have allowed us to place our country as the leading destination in the region in tourism recovery”, said Blanco Tejera.

The activity was attended by most of the former presidents of ASONAHORES, who were introduced by the executive vice-president of the association, Andrés Marranzini Grullón, and who were presented with a medal of merit in recognition of the work they did to make tourism the main sector of the national economy today.

In these 60 years we have seen how tourism went from being a dream to being the main sector and engine of our economy, and these past presidents that we recognize today are the living expression of entrepreneurship and tireless work to place our tourism industry as a leader in the region and the Dominican Republic as one of the main destinations in the world,” said Marranzini Grullón.

During the activity, both Blanco Tejera and Marranzini Grullón reviewed the main milestones that have been achieved in Dominican tourism to place it in the position it is in today.
