The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Mipymes (MICM) Víctor -Ito- Bisonó, highlighted that the sector is one of the engines leading the economic reactivation and with it, a zone full of opportunities for Dominicans.
While leading the ordinary session of the Free Zone Council, Bisonó assured the members of the council that the sector opens a great opportunity for investors who have chosen the Dominican Republic as a destination for their investments.
“From the Government headed by President Luis Abinader we work tirelessly to strengthen the investment climate of our country and the positioning of the Dominican Republic as an investment destination par excellence,” he said.
During the session, 13 new companies were approved, representing an investment of RD$2,175 million, which will add 1,786 new jobs for this sector.
“This is the most irrefutable proof of confidence in the current government administration, the proof that the free zones are the ideal instrument for attracting foreign investment, and consolidates the sector as one of the main productive engines of the country, and catalyst of the economic recovery”, he indicated.
The approved companies correspond to the sub-sectors of box manufacturing, cigars, services, software development, dental floss, doors and windows manufacturing, shutters and related products.
They are BM Cargo Logistics, Grupo Expertix, Tabacalera de García, LG H&H USA, Ebadom, Industrial, Dombox, PROWELD & Accesorios, E puente Cigars, Tabaco Vega del Rey, CTM Printing and Logistic Management.
They are located in the Santiago Navarrete, Cotui Industrial Zone, La Vega Industrial Zone, Cariexport International Free Trade Zone, Caucedo Multimodal Zone, Las Américas, La Romana, San Cristóbal, Bonao, and San Pedro de Macorís.
