Franklin García Fermín highlights DR-China ties

He stressed that during the Covid-19 pandemic, China and the Dominican Republic have overcome difficulties together, vividly explaining the true meaning of equality and mutual benefit in the relationship between the two countries.

The Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Dr. Franklin García Fermín, valued the contributions made by the millenary Chinese culture to humanity and the solid ties of cooperation between the governments of the Dominican Republic and the People’s Republic of China, during an event held at the Santo Domingo Institute of Technology (INTEC).

Delivering a speech, on the occasion of the celebration of International Chinese Language Day, he stressed that since 2018, when diplomatic relations between China and the Dominican Republic were formally established, the two nations have opened a new era of friendly cooperation between the two countries.China y RD

“The Chinese language has been considered as a unique tool for poetry or the arts, but very little applicable for law and sciences, even a hindrance to the cultural evolution of that great Eastern country,” he stressed.

He stressed that during the Covid-19 pandemic, China and the Dominican Republic have overcome the difficulties, together, vividly explaining the true meaning of equality and mutual benefit in the relationship between the two countries.

For his part, the new Chinese ambassador to the country, Chen Luning, stressed that Mandarin is one of the six official languages of the United Nations and the most spoken worldwide. He also thanked the MESCYT for the cooperation programs between both nations.

The rector of the Santo Domingo Institute of Technology (INTEC), Julio Sánchez Mariñez, gave the welcoming remarks at the event to celebrate Chinese Language Day.

The event was attended by, the vice rector of INTEC, Arturo del Villar; the director of Cabinet of the Ministry of Education, Clara Joa; the head of the Confucius Institute, Vanessa Robles, and the deputy director Wang Yie, as well as students and faculty members.
