14% Of Dominicans In Queens, New York

The Dominican population in Queens County has plunged 14% while the number of Ecuadorians, Puerto Ricans, Mexicans and Colombians grows by similar figures.

The borough’s Hispanic population is divided almost evenly among groups: Puerto Rican, 17%; Ecuadorian, 16%; Mexican, 15%; Dominican, 14% and Colombian, 12%.

2010 Census statistics show a considerable upswing in the numbers of, Chinese and especially Philippinos, with a 25% among their population.

Queens’ current population of 2.2 million makes it one of the biggest among the nation’s counties, followed by Los Angeles, Chicago and next door Brooklyn (New York).
