Abinader urges youth to take advantage of technical programs

President Luis Abinader urged young people to take advantage of the economic growth that the country is experiencing by training and pursuing technical careers through the Social Policy Cabinet’s 14-24 Opportunity program.

The head of state urged the students to “get their act together” because more than 65%, of the 4,596 new technical professionals who graduated today, from the “Opportunity 14-24” program, were women.

“We have an economy that is growing, but we have to take that technical knowledge to young Dominicans so that they can take advantage of the country’s economic growth,” Abinader emphasized.

He said that the Dominican government declared a semiconductor assembly program in the Dominican Republic as a priority.

Abinader, together with the coordinator of the Social Policy Cabinet, Tony Peña and the director of the “Oportunidad 14-24” program, Alex Mordán, headed yesterday the Fifth Regional Graduation of this initiative in which 4,596 young people from 104 centers located in different provinces of the country completed the formative route that turns them into new professional technicians in different areas.

“This is a program that was born from an idea during all our tour around the country prior to coming to government and where we saw the need to create technical careers. Today we have more than four thousand graduates and there are still one thousand more to go. This program will continue to grow because it is part of the Social Cabinet, because it is part of the Citizen Security policy, because it is part of improving the quality of life and improving the quality of life because we have to provide education”.

“You will have a government that will continue to support you”, concluded the President.

During the inauguration ceremony, Abinader expressed satisfaction with the results obtained in the 14-24 Opportunity program, which has served as a reference in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The program has impacted 30 thousand young people throughout the country.

The governor inaugurated yesterday several works in Greater Santo Domingo including two nursery schools, a high school, a sports center and a ravine, among others.

President Luis Abinader, together with the director of the Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewage Corporation (CAASD), engineer Felipe Suberví, (Fellito), inaugurated the renovation of the El Túnel de Capotillo gully, radically changing the quality of life of more than 2,500 direct inhabitants who reside in this populous sector.

The refurbishment and transformation work consisted of the replacement of 874 linear meters of slab that completely sealed the gully, which suffered deterioration over the years, and which affected the residents.
