Banco Popular recognized for its contributions in San Cristóbal

They highlight the bank’s support through various initiatives such as student scholarships.

Banco Popular Dominicano was recognized in the category of social responsibility for the special support that the financial entity offered to the society of San Cristóbal during the adverse events that took place in the province in 2023, among them, the explosion that left approximately 38 people dead.

The award was granted during the ceremony of Recognition of Business Merit 2024, an initiative of the Business Council for the Development of San Cristóbal (Cepedsc), whose purpose is to reward and highlight private sector companies that contribute to the development of this demarcation.

The information was shared by the entity through a press release in which it points out the merit for other educational and economic contributions destined to the growth of the micro, small and medium enterprises of this locality and its young people.

The recognition ceremony took place at the Instituto Politécnico Loyola, gathering personalities from the business, social, academic and governmental sectors related to San Cristóbal.

During the event, the president of Cepedsc, Vlamirdi Ruiz de la Rosa, highlighted: “San Cristobal has a strong, organized and cohesive business class, with a clear vision of being an integral part of all current development projects”.

Creating shared value

Speaking about the recognition, the executive vice president of Corporate Communications, Reputation and Responsible Banking of Grupo Popular, José Mármol, indicated in a video projected during the ceremony that “Banco Popular seeks to impact lives and contribute to the well-being and sustainable development of the country’s communities.”

“These contributions are part of Banco Popular’s socially responsible corporate citizenship, which has been fundamental in establishing a business model that seeks excellence in customer service, continuous innovation, transparency and the construction of favorable environments for the progress of all segments of society,” the executive stressed.

The recognition of the financial organization was received by Gabriel Haché Ortiz, senior manager of the Southern Interior Territory.

Banco Popular highlighted the benefits for the young people of San Cristóbal through the Excelencia Popular scholarship program, enabling them to build a future for themselves and their families thanks to the support provided for their higher education.

Likewise, the bank has provided the Entrepreneurship Diploma at the Loyola Polytechnic Institute and the Loyola Specialized Institute of Higher Education, which has provided hundreds of young participants with the tools and training necessary to transform their ideas into viable and sustainable business models.
