Dominican Republic expects a rebound in bookings for early 2022

Dominican Republic Minister of Tourism (Mitur), David Collado, told local media this week that the country expects a rebound in hotel bookings for the month of January 2022 is projecting numbers higher than January 2018, which was the best year for tourism in the Dominican Republic.

“We focus on working our hearts out, giving ourselves body and soul for the Dominican Republic, aware that 573 000 Dominicans live off this important tourism industry; US$6.5 billion comes in every year to maintain stability changes; more than RD$1.5 billion monthly in taxes. That is why we get up with love to work every morning,” said the head of the Tourism Ministry.

The statements and data were offered in the framework of the minister’s accountability, who pointed out that they created a public-private marketing committee to manage the international promotion of the Dominican Republic.

“The results have not been long in coming. When we arrived in the Dominican Republic there were 1,700 flights in August, 1,300 in September, 4,000 flights in June 2021 and 4,200 flights in July,” said the official.

He assured that the arrival of 572,500 tourists in July is a clear sign of the recovery of tourism in the Dominican Republic.
