Opportunities and Challenges of Electronic Commerce in Dominican Republic

The Dominican-French Chamber of Commerce (CCDF) is pleased to present Juan José Núñez, and Christophe Normand two international specialists of electronic commerce, as the two main exhibiters of the seminary: E-Commerce RD: Obstacles, Challenges and Opportunities of Electronic Commerce for the Development of Dominican Enterprises, with the sponsor of Popular Bank and Orange Dominicana.

Mr. Nuñez, international consultant, expert of digital markets in Latin America and of Hispanic market of United States, and who was Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Starmedia.com , will direct the conference Is it necessary for the enterprises to have a digital strategy currently ?. Mr. Normand will expose the keys of success of NeptuneCigar.com, an online store he created, and which is considered around the world as a leader of cigars and accessories for smokers sales on Internet.

This seminary will take place this Wednesday April 28th, at the Occidental Embajador Hotel, from 08.00 am to 01.00 pm.

During the dissertation of Mr. Nuñez, the debate Are we ready for e-commerce ? will take place, in presence of a representing of Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (INDOTEL), M. Pablo Tactuk, Director of National Statistics Office (ONE); Mr. Carlos Radhamés Cornielle, lawyer specialist concerning Internet law, and Claudio Peguero, from the Direction of Crimes Investigation and High Technology (DICAT).

During the second part of the event, success experiences of e-commerce will be presented on local and international levels: NeptuneCigar.com; la Popular Bank, Orange Dominicana and República-Dominicana-Live.com.

To end this interesting seminary, a debate will be organized around the Opportunities and Challenges of Electronic Commerce in Dominican Republic, to which will participate Germania Montás, vice-director of General Direction of Internal Taxes (DGII), and Marcos Troncoso, of the Dominican Chamber of Information and Communication Technologies (Cámara TIC), who will talk about this subject from the government and enterprise point of views respectively; while the deputy Pelegrín Castillo will speak about the law project Rate Zero for Internet.

During the opening ceremony, Jean Marc Harion and Manuel Alejandro Grullón, president and vice-president of the CCDF respectively will speak, and the closing speech will be pronounced by Mr. Eddy Martínez, Executive Director of the Exportation and Investment Center of Dominican Republic (CEI-RD).
