The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, completed this Wednesday a busy work agenda in this province, where he inaugurated the reconstruction of the access road to the beach of Macao and started the reconstruction works of the access roads to the basilica of Higüey, as well as several streets of the municipal district of Verón.
These three important works will continue to strengthen tourism development in the area and represent an investment of RD 202,036,328.
“Each of these works are old claims of the community that we are committed to attend. That is why we are here with you,” said Minister Collado.
He affirmed that these works will have a direct impact on the strengthening of tourism in the province of La Altagracia, which receives the largest number of visitors arriving in the Dominican Republic.
The inauguration of the access to Macao beach consists of the rehabilitation of the two-lane road of 6.00 meters wide, which connects from the Higüey-Macao highway to the access leading to Macao Beach, in a length of 1.2 kilometers, at a cost of RD 35,957,924.07.
This intervention also includes the construction of sidewalks, curbs and storm drainage.
While the reconstruction of the service infrastructure of the streets surrounding the Basilica of Higüey will cost RD 95,375,124.16.
The project contemplates an intervention of 362 linear meters of the main road from the central park towards the Basilica of Higüey.
This pilgrimage boulevard is dedicated to the mysteries of the Virgin and the Marian faith.
Meanwhile, the repair of the road infrastructures of the municipal district of Veron requires an investment of RD 70,703,280.28.
This intervention involves the reconstruction of the roads in about 4.35 kilometers in length, with a variable width; divided into two zones in the municipal district of Veron, in the area of Macao and La Jarda.
The project in the Macao area consists of the intervention of 8 axes of road, divided into 4 zones, while the works in La Jarda are based on 6 axes of road.
Access road to Macao beach
The work also includes the asphalting of the 1.2 km rehabilitated road, the construction of 2,250 linear meters of sidewalks, 2,400 linear meters of curbs and 1.50 meters of landscaping.
Also, the solution to the pluvial drainage with a system of scuppers and filtering wells, as well as the creation of green areas, potentiation of the electrical system and signaling.
Higüey Basilica access road
The work consists of the paving of the road; giving greater hierarchy to the sidewalks, to be able to develop the Way of the Cross within the same towards an end point in the Basilica, allowing at the same time the general circulation on both sides.
Likewise, parking areas, underground installations of high and medium voltage electrical wiring, as well as telecommunications and existing wiring will be implemented.
All this intervention will also include the beautification of the road, landscaping, design of the Monseñor Adolfo Nouel park and the structure where the sacred images will be placed for the Stations of the Cross.
The project includes paved and poured concrete sidewalks, storm drainage (scuppers and filtering wells), vertical signage (signs), horizontal signage (thermoplastic reflective paint on lane dividers), landscaping, equipment and lighting.
Road infrastructures in the municipal district of Veron
The scope of the project includes the recovery of the road structure, placement of asphalt wearing course, the construction of 5,280 linear meters of curbs in several streets, as well as the creation of storm drainage and signage.
The intervention in La Jarda consists of access from the marginal of the Bulevar Turístico del Este, being this the connector of 4 secondary road axes, in addition to 4 road axes within the area.
