The National Industrial Property Office (Onapi) and the Latin American School of Intellectual Property (Elapi), signed an agreement within the framework of collaboration and academic assistance between both entities, with the purpose of promoting industrial property for the sustainable development of the country.
The main purpose of the agreement is to promote and develop industrial property law. In this sense, Elapi is an institution created through a public instrument and its mission is to promote intellectual property in Latin America, bringing together young people linked to or interested in it.
With the signing of the agreement between Dr. Salvador Ramos, General Director of Onapi, and Aidaluz Pimentel, Director of Operations of Elapi in the Dominican Republic, efforts and resources will be complemented to strengthen a better fulfillment of the functions, missions and objectives, allowing to provide a better service to the community, in accordance with the current legal system.
This alliance has a significant impact on sustainable development by improving academic and professional education in industrial property, since it promotes innovation and protects the intellectual property rights of creators and innovators. It can also help create a more favorable environment for local businesses and entrepreneurs, which in turn can contribute to the country’s economic and social growth.
In addition, speaking at the signing of the agreement, Ramos highlighted the combined efforts of both organizations, stressing the importance of this alliance for Elapi, by boosting the development of micro-entrepreneurs, as well as helping to break down the barriers of the culture of poverty.
It was highlighted that the inter-institutional agreement establishes relations of complementation, cooperation and assistance of an academic, research and dissemination nature, for the economic development of the country.
