With the aim of continuing to change the country from the classroom and to make the Dominican Republic a safer nation, Vice President Raquel Peña inaugurated a new school in Sabana Perdida, Santo Domingo Norte municipality, and a National Police station in the Luperon Ensanche, National District.
During the inauguration of the Prof. Pascual Piña Basic Level Educational Center, the Vice President emphasized that each new or renovated school is a link in the great national effort to promote education.
She pointed out that it is not a matter of constructing buildings, but of building the country that all Dominicans want and deserve. “Every step we take in education is a step towards a stronger, more just and prosperous country,” he added.
Peña also said that the government headed by President Luis Abinader invests in its people and their future, so that every child has the opportunity to dream big and make those dreams come true.
On his side, the Minister of Education, Ángel Hernández, expressed that an educational center constitutes a world of opportunities for families and communities because it is there where the talents necessary for social and economic progress are developed. He exhorted to not lower the effort, to take advantage of the time and to continue studying for the improvement of Sabana Perdida.
The school has 27 classrooms with capacity for 850 students and also has an administration office, teachers’ lounge, infirmary, guidance office, library, virtual classroom, among other spaces.
Police Station
After the inauguration of the basic education center, the vice-president went to the Luperon Ensanche where, together with the Minister of the Interior and Police, Faride Raful, she cut the ribbon to inaugurate the National Police station in this sector of the capital.
Raquel Peña emphasized that the Government has dedicated important efforts to strengthen citizen security and that as part of these efforts, modern police stations such as the one in the Luperón neighborhood have been built.
“We continue to invest in the construction of more infrastructure and in the necessary equipment so that the National Police is prepared and can guarantee the protection of the physical integrity of all Dominicans and respect for property,” she said.
Meanwhile, Faride Raful pointed out that from the Ministry of Interior and Politics they will give continuity to the transformations promised by President Abinader and will deepen them. She invited citizens to join in the construction of a safer country.
Likewise, Angel de la Cruz, president of the Presidential Commission for Provincial Development said that a detachment is being delivered to Ensanche Luperon, which will impact more than 14,000 inhabitants of the surrounding neighborhoods and is also a reflection of the government’s commitment.
This two-level detachment was equipped on the first level with a men’s jail, women’s jail, kitchen-dining room, women’s dormitory, criminal investigation department, general bathrooms, visitors’ bathrooms, storage, reception and waiting room, and the office for the reception of complaints.
On the second level there are restrooms, men’s dormitories, deputy commander’s department, assistant’s office, meeting room, commander’s office and commander’s dormitory.
Regarding the works inaugurated, the amount was RD 20,205,326.89 for the detachment and RD 135,732,121.50 for the school.
