The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, together with the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, officially opened the Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange (DATE), during which several agreements were signed and the groundbreaking ceremony for a new hotel was held.
Minister Collado informed that the agreements signed are aimed at strengthening the arrival of tourists to Quisqueya from Canada during the summer and the month of December.
The agreements were signed by the Minister of Tourism, in the presence of the President of the Republic, with Renee Boisvert, vice-president of Products of AirTransat; Dina Berdolo, of Air Canada vacations and Eric Rodríguez of Sonwing.
He said that the main strategy of these alliances is to recover the Canadian market and that the signal being given by President Luis Abinader, witnessing the signing of the agreements, with each reopening of a hotel, is the key to the success of the recovery of tourism in the Dominican Republic.
Renee Boisvert said that the new promotional campaign will help tour operators to better promote the destination. Meanwhile, Eric Rodriguez said that Sonwing has always been a company that bets on the Dominican Republic, not only with flights and tourists, but also with properties and receptive, “we want to continue growing not only in Punta Cana and Puerto Plata, but also in other destinations in the country,” he said.
Expedia Group also recognized the Dominican Republic as the “Best Marketing Campaign in Latin America”.
As part of the DATE celebration, the groundbreaking ceremony was also held for the construction of Secret Tides Punta Cana, which will have 700 rooms, generating 3,000 direct and indirect jobs.
“On behalf of the Tourism Cabinet, we congratulate, promote and support this project, which gives a clear sign that we continue to believe in the recovery of tourism, in foreign and local investment, thanks to the government of President Luis Abinader, who has generated confidence in the country”, said the Minister of Tourism at the ceremony of the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the new Codelpa Am Resorts hotel.
