Tourist security plan coordinated in Bayahibe

Minister David Collado heads a meeting with the heads of the Police, Navy and DNCD.

The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, announced the implementation of an extensive security plan in the entire tourist area of Bayahibe, as part of the plan to relaunch this important destination in the eastern region of the country.

The decision was adopted during a meeting headed by Minister Collado and attended by the director of the National Police, Major General Alberto Then; the commander of the Dominican Navy, Vice Admiral Gustavo Betances; the president of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), Vice Admiral José Miguel Cabrera Ulloa and the head of the Tourist Police, General Minoru Masunaga.

At the meeting, the private sector was represented by Rafael Blanco, president of ASONAHORES, Ana Gracia Sotoca, Bayahibe Hotel Association, Luis Emilio Rodríguez, Leo Matos and Andrés Fernández, La Romana-Bayahibe Hotel Association.

During the meeting, all the guidelines for the execution of the security plan and other development projects were discussed.

Minister Collado highlighted the importance of this new security and order plan in Bayahibe.

“From the Ministry of Tourism, we will spare no effort to strengthen this destination and make Bayahibe a model of security for all visitors”, Collado guaranteed.

In the middle of the meeting, Minister Collado received a phone call from President Luis Abinader, who expressed his full support for the initiative.

The Police Director said that the security plan will be a true model.

He expressed that the Police will assign as many agents as necessary to guarantee the greatest security for tourists visiting the destination.

The chief of the Navy guaranteed that the men under his command will work hand in hand with the other institutions to guarantee the greatest security in the ports of the zone.

Meanwhile, the president of the DNCD indicated that his agents will work intensely, but respecting the laws. “Security is guaranteed in Bayahibe”, said Cabrera Ulloa.

For his part, the president of ASONAHORES described as “very positive” the execution of the security and territorial reorganization plan for Bayahibe.
