Government subsidizes fuels with nearly $340 million

The vice minister of Internal Commerce, Ramón Pérez Fermín, announced this Friday that the government of President Luis Abinader will continue to support the population through an extraordinary subsidy, guaranteeing that the prices of the main fuels will remain without variation during the week of August 10-16, 2024.

Pérez Fermín detailed that the government will subsidize regular diesel with more than RD$15 per gallon, optimum diesel with more than RD$9 per gallon, regular gasoline with almost RD$18 per gallon, premium gasoline with almost RD$12 per gallon, and LPG with almost RD$12 per gallon.

“These extraordinary subsidies to fuel prices are a relief for the family economy, preventing international rises from affecting our market,” stated the vice minister.

The government’s total effort in these subsidies reaches approximately RD$336.8 million, ensuring that fuel prices remain stable for the benefit of the population.

The average weekly exchange rate is RD$59.60 from the Central Bank’s daily publications.
