Petro inaugurates Anato fair with DR as guest country

In this new version of ANATO, work is being done to promote all Dominican destinations, but emphasis will be placed on the diversified offer of Santiago and the entire northern coast.

Bogota, Colombia-Tourism Minister David Collado inaugurated the Dominican participation in the ANATO 2023 Tourism Showcase, which began on Wednesday, headed by Colombian President Gustavo Petro.

Collado assured that, within the framework of this fair, where the Dominican Republic is the guest country, and where Santiago de Los Caballeros is being promoted in a special way, several agreements will be signed to guarantee that more Colombian tourists will continue to visit Quisqueya.

“Colombians have chosen us as one of their favorite destinations, that is why we are here as a guest country to ensurePetro Feria Anato RD that more tourists continue to visit us,” said the official.

He pointed out that in recent months Colombia has become the third country of origin of tourists to the Dominican Republic, surpassed only by the United States and Canada.

Last year 257,716 Colombians visited us and I am convinced that in 2023 we will exceed that figure considerably,” said Collado.

Throughout the fair, Minister Collado will hold meetings with tour operators, travel agents, airlines and other industry players.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent personalities from Santiago, including businessmen Manuel Estrella and José Clase, among others.

This is the 42nd version of ANATO, with the participation of representatives from more than 30 countries, 42 Dominican companies, as well as a large delegation from the private sector.

On Tuesday, Tourism Minister Collado presented to more than 300 travel agents and tour operators the best of the Dominican Republic, as well as its success story in the recovery of tourism.

“I want to thank here, that Colombians have chosen the Dominican Republic as one of their favorite destinations and I urge them to continue visiting us so that they can enjoy our beauty,” said Minister Collado.

It is recalled that Minister Collado resumed his promotional presentations in the North American market weeks after having achieved the Dominican Republic’s most successful participation in the FITUR tourism fair, which was held from January 18-22 in Madrid, Spain.
