Grupo Piñero opens the doors of Cayo Levantado Resort, a complex located in one of the most enigmatic places in the Dominican Republic, through which the Group’s hotel division enters the luxury segment, understood as sustainable innovation and sophistication.
The new offer seeks to turn each guest’s stay into an unforgettable personal journey of well-being and transformation. The five-star all-inclusive resort offers an experience that breathes authentic Dominican culture and lifestyle, leveraged on sustainability, care for the mind, body and spirit, as well as the highest level of gastronomy.
Located five kilometers from the Samaná Peninsula, Cayo Levantado Resort officially opened its doors today with the presence of Isabel García Lorca, president and founder of Grupo Piñero, and Encarna Piñero, executive vice president and general manager.
This unique resort -on a unique island- has 218 rooms distributed in 10 typologies with different atmospheres inspired by the nature of the country, from Junior Suite rooms to private villas with capacity for up to 8 people.
Through the creation of a new vision of what luxury tourism should be, called “the luxury of regenerating”, Cayo Levantado Resort materializes a proposal based on sustainable innovation and sophistication that revolves around a triple regeneration focused on the guest’s experience, respect and protection of the environment, as well as a tribute to the local culture.
With a view to providing guests with a personal experience of self-discovery, during their stay they will have the opportunity to explore and enjoy the four wellness paths: Refresh, Restore, Relax and Renew. Programs designed by professionals with extensive experience in Wellness and who are part of the team of Cayo Levantado Resort.
This experience will allow visitors to carry out activities that will take them to this phase of personal reconnection in a natural and magical environment. These include: higher intensity activities and physical training therapies, as well as spa treatments, menus adapted by nutritionists and meditation sessions with an emphasis on spiritual growth.
The resort takes wellness a step further with Yubarta, considered the true heart of the island, fully integrated into the tropical gardens in the center of the Key and offered as an elevated experience for personal growth and discovery, complementing the all-inclusive. Its name is a tribute to the humpback whales that annually visit the warm waters of Samana Bay during their breeding season. The creation of this space seeks to establish an atmosphere that helps visitors to promote an encounter with themselves.
As for the gastronomic offer, the new resort takes the experience to the highest level, thanks to the proposal of 6 restaurants with a selective catering and cocktail service for all tastes, highlighting the international, healthy, Mediterranean, Nikkei fusion, steak house and of course, the traditional Dominican cuisine.
To guarantee the differential and exclusivity of Cayo Levantado Resort, an alliance has been made with Forbes Travel Guide, with the objective of guaranteeing the highest standards of quality, luxury and hospitality in both service and facilities.
360º Sustainability
In order to protect the ecosystem, preserve the fauna and flora and minimize the ecological impact on Cayo Levantado, Grupo Piñero has opted for innovation and sustainability in all aspects of its new space, so the resort has a water production plant (and bottling) by condensation and photovoltaic panels.
In terms of preservation, it should be noted that Cayo Levantado is the beginning of the reef zone of Samaná Bay, as well as an important refuge for birds, whales and corals. In view of this, and in order to take care of this natural habitat, the Eco-Bahía Foundation, promoted by Grupo Piñero, works together with local NGOs such as CEBSE and FUNDEMAR for the conservation and restoration of coral reefs.
With respect to saving resources, check-in is paperless with identification bracelets, the rooms comply with zero plastic criteria, and there is a “RoomXperience” room control system that allows each guest to control their actual energy consumption with lighting control, presence sensors, door and window opening sensors, as well as temperature and humidity control.
Finally, it is important to mention that the sustainability of Cayo Levantado Resort also includes the integration and promotion of local talent, a key and fundamental part of the mission to offer an experience that marks a before and after in the way tourism is done in the region.
