The new brand will arrive in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, with its first hotel and as part of a $350 million investment in the creation of a destination that will combine hospitality, leisure and entertainment.
Meliá Hotels International, (“Meliá”) (BME: MEL), a leading vacation ownership company with more than 380 hotels in 40 countries, in partnership with Falcon’s Beyond, a global company dedicated to the development of entertainment concepts, announces its new hotel brand: Falcon’s Resorts by Meliá.
This brand will be part of the Falcon’s Beyond Destinations concept, the brand that will develop destinations specially designed for leisure and entertainment, which both companies hope to expand to major destinations around the world.
Thanks to the track record and leadership of Meliá Hotels International and Falcon’s in the hotel sector and in the development of entertainment concepts, respectively, Falcon’s Resorts by Meliá will combine the quality and characteristic attributes of a premium resort with the best leisure and entertainment proposals. The hotels of this new brand will thus offer direct access to a wide variety of restaurants, stores and leisure spaces that will shape a more complete destination experience.
“We have been working hand-in-hand with Meliá for more than a decade, since we teamed up to combine lodging and entertainment in Mallorca, and now we are very proud to be able to bring this enhanced model of collaboration to Punta Cana by the end of this year,” explains Cecil D. The first resort will be Falcon’s Resort by Meliá – All Suites Punta Cana, the result of the transformation of two of Meliá Hotels International’s hotels in the destination, the Paradisus Grand Cana and The Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real, totaling 622 rooms.
The first phase is expected to be completed by the end of the year, converting the existing Paradisus Grand Cana into an all-inclusive resort that will offer new experiences and facilities, as well as a unique interactive platform to be announced soon. The second phase, which will transform The Reserve into Paradisus Palma Real, is expected in 2023.
Falcon’s Resort by Meliá – All Suites Punta Cana will be one of three projects within the creation of the new $350 million Falcon’s Beyond Destination – Punta Cana entertainment destination. The destination will also feature Katmandu Park – Punta Cana, a new state-of-the-art theme park scheduled to open in December 2022, and Falcon’s Central – Punta Cana, an exclusive retail, dining and entertainment space currently under development.
In Punta Cana, Katmandu Park will be the destination’s first major theme park and will feature new entertainment-oriented technologies, interactive storytelling and innovative world-class attractions. Falcon’s Central will offer multiple services and entertainment, shopping and dining options, collaborating with leading international brands. Both Katmandu Park and Falcon’s Central will be open to all visitors to the Bávaro region (estimated at more than 42,000 rooms), as well as to the area’s nearly 43,000 residents.
Meliá Hotels International and Falcon’s have already announced upcoming Falcon’s Beyond Destination locations around the world to be developed in the coming years. These include Tenerife, by 2024; Playa del Carmen, Mexico, by 2025; and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, with a date yet to be confirmed.
