The Ministry of Tourism took advantage this Thursday of the large lobby that interconnects its headquarters with the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources for the assembly of “Let’s talk about results”, a podcast-type program in which it presented live statistics on the flow of tourism in the RD.
“In this different way, outside of a hotel, at the main headquarters of the ministry, we are going to present the results for the month of February 2024,” Minister David Collado specified to members of the press, who initially wondered which media outlet would have organized the logistics of broadcasting the event, to which Collado responded that it was an initiative of the entity itself for the dissemination of its results on its social networks.

Surrounded by a small group of businessmen of the sector and invited communicators, the official informed that the arrival of visitors in February was 1,057,216, of which 755,832 arrived in the country by air and 301,384 by cruise ships.
This represents a 16% growth compared to 2023, when 913,534 visitors arrived in the same month last year, and represents the second consecutive month in which the country reached more than one million visitors in winter, which is a high season period for tourism.
“We did it again”, said the official, followed by the ovations of dozens of employees of the ministry, stationed in the corridors of the three levels of the shared building, and who paused their work for more than an hour and a half to watch the event.
The Minister of Tourism was accompanied by the technical vice-minister, Jacqueline Mora; the president of the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the RD (Asonahores), David Llibre; the tourism entrepreneur Andrés Marranzini; the communicator Lizbeth Santos and the founder of the “Pesos Pesados” podcast, Gustavo Yunen.
