The opening was led by Rosángela Sánchez Valdez, Administrative and Financial Vice Rector; Yeşim Kebapcioglu, Ambassador of Turkey to the Dominican Republic; José Antonio Gil, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business of Unapec, and Enrique Pacheco, Director of the School of Tourism.

Also present were Luis Ros, president of the Dominican Academy of Gastronomy; Raşit Gül and Bilge Yavuz, second secretary and third secretary, respectively, of the Turkish Embassy to the Dominican Republic; and Reyna Dalina Suarez, coordinator of the Unapec Cooking Laboratory.

The gastronomy of the Republic of Turkey, a destination considered a bridge between cultures and continents, was the specialty explored by the university community during the twenty-third edition of the Gastronomic Festival, which took place in the La Mancha hall of the Barceló Santo Domingo Hotel.

Organizers of the event emphasized that the gastronomic festivals are important for the teaching and learning of the students of the Hotel and Tourism career, by virtue of the fact that in addition to the practical knowledge they acquire of the discipline, they learn about other cultures and culinary customs of the nations and regions involved.

The meeting was also attended by the schools of Hotel Management and Tourism of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), Universidad Tecnológica de Santiago (UTESA), Universidad Católica de Santo Domingo (UCSD), among others.
