Collado assures that agreements of the “DR Trade Show” in Miami will bring 2.5 million tourists to the country

The Minister of Tourism, David Collado, assured on Wednesday that the agreements signed during the “DR Trade Show” in Miami guarantee the arrival of some 2.5 million tourists to the country this year.

In that sense, the official explained that the event, considered the first of its kind of a country in the North American territory exceeded expectations, since during its development some 740 meetings of businessmen of the tourism sector were held.

“Between all the agreements we signed we are guaranteeing more than two and a half million tourists to the Dominican Republic, at least two and a half million tourists for the remainder of the year,” said Collado when speaking to the press at the end of the “DR Trade Show in Miami”.

David Collado explained that this is the first time a country has held an event of this nature in the United States, achieving a milestone in the sector, which seeks to continue expanding the power of the Dominican Republic as a tourist destination to new markets.

“The truth is that it has been a success, it has exceeded our expectations. Tourism signed 39 agreements and within those 39 agreements we signed with the main tour operators of Canada, which is our second largest tourist issuing country. With Air Transat, Air Canada and Air Zone. We also signed with Avianca, which is responsible for 250,000 tourists a year”, he added.

The head of the Dominican tourism portfolio explained that the business sectors of Canada, Central America and the United States held some 740 meetings.

He indicated that the agreements signed guarantee the winter season in the Dominican Republic.
