Company that promotes accessible tourism in the Dominican Republic to receive Fitur award

Dominican Access has been recognized by the observatory of best practices in tourism at the International Tourism Fair of Madrid (Fitur), FiturNext 2022.

Dominican Access, universal accessibility consultants that promote accessible tourism, is the only venture outside of Spain that has achieved recognition by the observatory, and will formally receive the Fitur Next distinction during the Fitur celebration to be held in Madrid, Spain, on January 19, 2022.

The CEO of Dominican Access, Adis Ozuna, said “the fact that Fitur has considered the topic of accessibility for FiturNext should serve as a wake-up call as to where the tourism sector is moving in the world and the importance that accessibility is gaining every day. We trust that more companies and institutions will turn their attention to this important segment of the population”.

For their contribution to accessibility in tourism in the categories promoted in: new technologies at the service of accessible tourism, tourism services and inclusive complementary offer and management and promotion of accessibility, FiturNext announces TUR4all, Albastar and COCEMFE as the three winning initiatives of the 2022 Challenge, Dominican Access being one of the nine finalist projects that stand out for their contribution to accessibility and that accompany the three winning initiatives.

The other finalists are: Equalitas Vitae, Viajeros sin límite, Sentir el alto Tajo, Can Morei, Borja con todos los sentidos, Turisme de Catalunya and Turisme Comunitat Valenciana.

Fitur Next is Fitur’s observatory of best practices in tourism, managed by Ideas for Change. For 2022 it presented the challenge of how tourism can contribute to a more accessible society, with the aim of recognizing replicable, high-impact initiatives that are improving people’s lives through accessible tourism.

The call for next year’s edition put the focus on those projects with a holistic accessibility vision and that contribute to the sector with: New technologies at the service of accessible tourism; Accessible tourism services and complementary offer; Management and promotion of accessibility in tourism.
