RESTRICTIONS ON THE ATLANTIC COAST
13 PROVINCES UNDER WEATHER ALERT LEVELS
Throughout the morning and this afternoon, the meteorological environment has been very sunny, with little rainfall, however, the meteorological analysis, as well as the information provided by the different numerical models, show that the incidence of a trough at different levels of the troposphere and the humidity provided by the wind from the east/northeast will generate cloud increases, will generate cloud increases mainly in the late afternoon and evening, accompanied by weak to moderate rainfall, sometimes heavy with thunderstorms and wind gusts over different locations in the northeast, southeast (including Greater Santo Domingo), north and the Central Cordillera, gradually extending to some towns in the north and northwest, as well as sectors of the border area.
Tomorrow Sunday, from very early hours, we will remain under the influence of a trough and the presence of rainfall in the form of moderate downpours, which could be heavy at times, with thunderstorms and wind gusts over several locations in the eastern, northeastern and southeastern regions, however, as the day progresses, these same downpours will continue to gradually extend to the northwest and the Central Cordillera, as well as some sectors of the border area.
As the following table indicates, due to a slight decrease in rainfall in several provinces of the country, we have updated the levels of weather alerts against possible flash flooding of rivers, streams and creeks, as well as, landslides and urban flooding. Alerts and/or warnings: On the Atlantic coast from Cabo del Morro (Monte Cristi) to Punta Laguna, operators of fragile, small and medium-sized vessels are advised to remain in port, due to wind and abnormal waves, while on the Caribbean coast as of this moment, we are discontinuing the previous recommendation.
