The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has announced that the Australian city of Perth will host its next summit, to be held in late 2024 in partnership with Tourism Western Australia. WTTC chair Julia Simpson said Perth “promises to elevate the global summit experience, offering attendees a taste of the hospitality and adventure that Australia offers par excellence.” She also announced the appointment of Certares director Greg O’Hara as the new chairman of the organization’s board of directors. O’Hara has been a member of the WTTC executive committee since 2019 and vice chairman since 2021. He will assume the position later this month and will succeed Arnold Donald. O’Hara has noted that he is will support “members and the WTTC as the industry continues to strengthen.” For his part, Simpson has stressed that he will bring “a wealth of experience and a deep knowledge of the sector”, with which the WTTC will have “new scope in an industry that is growing faster than the global economy”
