The DR emerged as one of the best destinations to travel to in 2024 in Tripadvisor’s “Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best” Awards.
The country ranked 16th out of a total of 25 tourist destinations worldwide, which stand out for the positive reviews of their hotels, restaurants and activities over the course of a year.
In fact, Quisqueya is the only country in the Caribbean and the third in Latin America to stand out among the winners of this selection.
Tripadvisor explains that of the list of eight million places registered on the platform, less than 1% are awarded “Best of the Best”; that is, the highest level of excellence in terms of travel.
One of the attractions of the nation located in the same path of the sun are its turquoise blue beaches and white sand, which “make the island a paradise for its visitors”.
Places for tourism in the DR
The platform also recommends visiting the Colonial City in Santo Domingo, going on excursions to the Isabel de Torres mountain by cable car in the province of Puerto Plata, as well as enjoying local music at night in Cabarete.
It also invites visitors to visit the beaches of Punta Cana, in the province of La Altagracia, in the east of the DR. However, the tourist offer includes hiking, snorkeling, paragliding, camping, among others.
Tripadvisor’s selection awarded first place to Dubai, while second and third place went to Bali, in Indonesia, and London, in the United Kingdom.
Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital, was also ranked fourth, while Rome, Italy, came in fifth place.
The top 10 is completed by Paris, France; Cancun, Mexico; Marrakech, Morocco; Crete, Greece; and Hội An, Vietnam.
