Abinader announces 19 hotel projects for US$2,936 million

The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, indicated in his presentation of accounts for 2024 that the tourism industry remains one of the leading and most dynamic of the entire Dominican economy.

He recalled that 2023 ended with the achievement of having reached 10 million visitors arriving to the country, in addition to having been recognized by the WTO as a leading country in the recovery of tourism worldwide.

In this sense, and with the objective of continuing to increase the flow of tourism and hotel occupancy in the country, the President announced the construction of 19 new Abinader Inversión Turismohotel investment projects, with an investment of US$2,936 million.

The infrastructure will total 9,135 rooms.

“All this has been accompanied by a strategy of public investment in the main tourist areas, in the new poles and throughout the country,” Abinader highlighted.

He indicated that the Government has intervened in 89 tourism projects in 18 provinces, with a value of 8.4 billion pesos. This means that, at present, there are some 4,640 million pesos in execution for 39 projects in 11 provinces.

The main provinces where the projects will be located will be: Samaná, Puerto Plata and La Altagracia.
