During the 43rd edition of the event organized by the Colombian Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (Anato) 2024, held in Colombia, the RD won three awards, positioning the country in the eyes of the world. These awards were received by the Minister of Tourism, David Collado.
“My people, we did it again, we broke, in Anato 2024,” said the former mayor of the National District, holding the three laurels.
The awards the nation received was “Best Destination in Latin America”, awarded by Prince Travel Holding, a “prestigious” award. Also, it added to its tourism showcase the “Best Selling Destination in 2023”, by the Golden Vacation Group, as highlighted by the website Descubre RD.
On the other hand, Bávaro Beach, located in Punta Cana, was recognized as the “Best Destination of 2024” by TripAdvisor Best of the Best Destination.
The Colombian Association of Travel Agencies and Tourism, also known as Anato, is considered one of the most important tourism fairs in the region and Colombia is the number 3 country of origin of tourists to the RD, which received more than 306 thousand Colombians in 2023, representing 5% of tourists.
It is worth mentioning that the RD has shown its tourism offer in the event, being Puerto Plata the host destination of the fair and has been promoting it to be visited. According to a press release from the Ministry of Tourism, the province has been represented by a delegation of more than 80 members, including authorities, businessmen, tourism leaders and Dominican media.
