The Airport Department (DA) informed that everything is ready to receive the international delegations that are beginning to arrive in the country to participate in the XXVIII Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government.
The entity explained that the necessary arrangements have been made with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mirex) and other government agencies.
Among the institutions are the Customs (DGA) and Immigration (DGM); as well as the concessionaire Aerodom and airport security, so that the normal flow of both passengers and guests to participate in the plenary is maintained.
The DA also indicated that it has reinforced its personnel at the AILA so that daily services can be attended and also to receive, with the corresponding protocol, the heads of government arriving to the national territory.
“We have taken the necessary precautions in view of the important event that will be held in the country and which has a very important international character,” said Victor Pichardo, executive director of the DA.
Twenty-two countries, 19 from Latin America, plus Andorra, Portugal and Spain, have been invited to participate in the event, which will take place from March 19 to 26, while the Dominican Republic will act as moderator as it holds the pro rempore secretariat of the Ibero-American Conference.
Since this week, delegations and advanced government representatives from Spain, Mexico, Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia and other nations have arrived.
For next Wednesday, however, it is expected that the heads of state and government representatives of the participating countries will begin to arrive in different private and commercial flights through the AILA.
