Construction of ring road to connect with Pedernales

The Minister of Public Works, Deligne Ascención, revealed this Thursday that the Government is contemplating the construction of a bypass in the province of Barahona, in order to continue shortening the distance on the way to Pedernales.

The official said that the executives of the Ministry of Public Works (MOPC) are already holding meetings with the authorities of the province, to analyze the construction of the road.

“Just yesterday (Wednesday) we were meeting with the authorities of Barahona. Edgar; the new senator, Ayala; Montero; new deputy and with the mayors, to make a bypass in Barahona,” he revealed.

He said that the measure seeks that those who travel to Pedernales, Enriquillo, Paraíso and other localities, do not have to go through the city of Barahona.

The Minister of Public Works said that Engineer Elías Santana has the task of starting to work in this direction in order to continue contributing to the development of the southern region of the country.

In this sense, Deligne Ascención also detailed that within the works for the development of the southern region, the extension of the Sanchez highway up to kilometer 15 of Azua is in the folder.

He also informed in El Gobierno de la Mañana, that the Government is also building an alternative road to Enriquillo and Pedernales, which seeks to shorten the distance to reach the tourist pole.

Also, he offered details of the construction being carried out by the entity on the Baní bypass, adding that the road could be at the service of users early next year 2025.
