Dominican Republic Logistics Summit Announced

The Dominican Republic Shipping Association (ANRD) and the Directorate General of Customs (DGA) announced that Santo Domingo will host the “Dominican Republic Logistics Summit 2024”, an international event to be held on April 17 and 18, 2024 at the Hotel El Embajador.

Under the slogan “Connecting Global Opportunities”, in this summit of global importance, the first of its kind in the Dominican Republic, the public and private sectors will join forces to continue promoting the country as the logistics hub par excellence in the region, given its competitive advantages.

The meeting with the media, led by Jaak Rannik, president of the Association of Shipping Agents of the Dominican Republic (ANRD), and Eduardo Sanz Lovatón, General Director of Customs, was also attended by the main executives of the business organizations and institutions that promote this important productive segment: Dominican Association of Customs Agents (ADAA), the Dominican Association of Air and Maritime Cargo Agents (Adacam), Dominican Association of Logistics Centers and Operators (Asologic), American Chamber of Commerce (Amchamdr), the Logistics Cluster of the Dominican Republic, the Logistics Council and the National Committee for Trade Facilitation.

Jaak Rannik highlighted that the country has fundamental pillars for its international positioning, among which logistics efficiency, state-of-the-art infrastructure, solid manufacturing growth, reliable legal framework and global connectivity stand out.

“Our strategic location connects the region’s trade flows with the entire world, so this summit represents a great opportunity to generate multiple businesses, to demonstrate the capacity and quality of the logistics infrastructure that already exists and to continue promoting the characteristics that make the country a first-class logistics hub,” said Rannik.

For his part, Eduardo Sanz Lovatón, director general of Customs, affirmed that this summit is crucial for the commercial and logistics sectors to focus comprehensively on promoting the country, with a view to being the fundamental engines of the local economy. He emphasized that the government identified these two sectors as strategic axes to drive the transition from a developing economy to an advanced economy.

Sanz Lovatón expressed that “the Dominican Republic has greater accessibility and record times than other countries in the region, both by air and sea, in addition to competitive advantages that must be communicated effectively, to position the country as a fast and effective market, which has modern, efficient and agile ports”.

Dominican Republic Logistics Summit 2024 will feature keynote speeches, panels and talks by international and national experts, business rounds, networking spaces and visits to logistics facilities, among other activities.

This summit is shaping up to be the most relevant event in the sector due to its scope and impact, as it will attract decision makers and representatives of international companies, as well as cargo generators from around the world, who will be joined by key players in the Dominican logistics sector, represented by shipping and logistics agents, ports and airports, shipping lines and airlines, land transportation companies, warehouses, manufacturing, the importing and exporting sector, financial institutions and technology companies, among others.
