The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, has issued Decree 420-24, through which new appointments are made for Jesús Vásquez and Eligio Jáquez, highlighting their continued services to the country in key roles.
Jesús Vásquez, who served as Minister of Interior and Police during the four years of President Abinader’s first term (2020-2024), has been appointed as Consul General of the Dominican Republic in New York, United States of America. His experience in security and law enforcement management will be invaluable in his new role, where he is expected to continue strengthening relations between the Dominican Republic and the Dominican community in New York. This appointment will take effect on August 16, 2024.
Eligio Antonio Jáquez Cruz, who served as Consul General of the Dominican Republic in New York, has been appointed Advisor to the Executive Branch for Agricultural Affairs, in an honorary capacity.
During his time as consul, Jaquez played a crucial role in representing and supporting Dominican citizens abroad. Now, in his new role, he will bring his vast experience to advise on agricultural issues, contributing to the development and sustainability of the sector in the country. This designation will also take effect on August 16, 2024.
The referred appointments reflect President Abinader’s commitment to continue having experienced and dedicated professionals in strategic roles for the development and well-being of the Dominican Republic.
