The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Mescyt) delivered this Tuesday 404 international scholarship certifications to the third group of deserving students who will pursue master’s degree programs in 33 universities in 8 countries, located in Colombia, Spain, the United States, Italy, England, France, the United Kingdom and Mexico.
At the ceremony, headed by the head of the institution, Dr. Franklin García Fermín, and organized by the International Scholarships Department headed by Roselia Pérez, the exceptional students received their accreditations to study Master’s degrees at Higher Education Institutions (HEI) such as the University of Eude Business School, Anahuac Cancun, Anahuac Online, Cett, Barcelona School of Tourism, Hospitality and Gastronomy.
Likewise, in Conscious Management Institute (CMI business, Enae Business School – School of Business and Business Administration, in addition, Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena, Universidad de Castilla la Mancha, Conscious Management Institute, Universidad de Navarra, Enae Busniess Schoool (School of Business and Business Administration), Instituto Europeo Di Desing Led.
In his speech, García Fermín highlighted the need to motivate students from the most underprivileged areas of the country to participate in the International Scholarship Program, with the main objective of having a positive impact on their communities.
García Fermín emphasized that when they change their lives, the lives of their families and the national community will also change for the better.
“President Luis Abinader trusts in education, which is why he has arranged a series of measures to give priority to the most depressed provinces, impacting their social, economic and educational development,” he said.
The official indicated that the scholarship recipients come from different provinces such as Elías Piña, San Francisco de Macorís, San Juan, Dajabón, Barahona, Hato Mayor, Valverde (Mao), Montecristi, Azua, San Pedro de Macorís, Puerto Plata, Espaillat, Duarte, Bahoruco, Santo Domingo, Pedernales, La Altagracia, San Pedro de Macorís, Higüey, Santiago, La Vega, La Romana and Santiago, as well as the municipality of Bayaguana.
Speaking on behalf of the 2020- 2022 graduates, Raúl Calderón Rosendo, who completed a Masters in Science in Education at Fordham University in the United States.
He assured that the International Scholarship Program carried out by the government is transparency, so they leave behind a past in which broad sectors of the population perceived that credit facilities were for friends of officials.
“I want to thank the hard work done by the Minister of Mescyt, but above all the transparency with which this process is being done, providing opportunities to young people from all over the country,” he emphasized.
Speaking on behalf of the scholarship recipients, María Alexandra Morales Estévez, emphasized that the International Scholarship Program is inclusive because it reaches all sectors of the country, neighborhoods, cities, including the territorial jurisdiction of the National District, where she is from.
The beneficiaries will study: master’s degree in educational technology and digital teaching skills; diploma in neuro educational technology; master’s degree in computer software engineering; master’s degree in health sciences research; master’s degree in health management; master’s degree in product design and services certified in advanced digital tools.
Also, master’s degree in sustainable finance management; international master’s degree in agroforestry and sustainable agriculture; university master’s degree in food quality and safety; master’s degree in clinical and experimental medical research; university master’s degree in mathematics; university master’s degree in advanced biology research and application.
Present were the deputy ministers, José A. Cancel, Paula Disla, Genaro Rodríguez Martínez, Juan Francisco Viloria and Carmen Evarista Matías.
In addition, the head of Foreign Languages, Giseh Cuesta; the head of National Scholarships, Lanny Portorreal, as well as the director of Cabinet, Juan F. Medina, among others.
