Tourism, Defense and PN join COE in Semana Santa operations

The Ministries of Tourism, Defense, the National Police and other institutions will support the preventive operation “Conscience for Life Easter Week 2023”, which will be deployed by the Emergency Operations Committee (COE) at the national level.

For this day, led by the Tourism Cabinet and coordinated by the Minister of Tourism, David Collado, the surveillance agencies will provide all available personnel to ensure the safety of citizens and tourists who choose rivers, beaches, resorts and mountains to vacation during the Easter holiday.

Minister Collado thanked the strong support of all the military organizations that “in a single body shield the security of our country and that is a clear sign of the sensitivity for the safety of the people”.

He said ,”that as last year, he will travel together with the surveillance agencies and the National Police to the tourist poles so that everything goes in order on the beaches, for the safety of the vacationers”.

Collado asked the population to abide by the resolution which provides for the closure of beaches and resorts, in order to preserve security and avoid tragic events at this time of the year.

Likewise, the head of Mitur reiterated the prohibition of the use of motorcycles, four wheelers and motor vehicles, wave runners and banana boats, as well as the establishment of tents and the sale of alcoholic beverages on the beaches and spas.

For his part, the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa, informed that “our Armed Forces have worked hard to collaborate in this operation which contemplates all the necessary measures to prevent and respond to any eventuality that may arise during this special week”.

He expressed that they will work in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism, the Presidency of the Republic, the National Police. Civil Defense, among other institutions to support and collaborate with the COE.Tourism, Defense and PN Join COE in Semana Santa Operations

Díaz Morfa also invited the tourists and citizens to collaborate in order to follow the measures established by the operation, as well as the members of the security organizations to act with moderation and prudence for the well-being of all.

The plan to support the COE in the Easter Week 2023 operation will consist of the execution of 6 operational tasks in 6 specific points which will include: increase patrols along the roads, highways, streets and avenues throughout the country.

Increasing the presence of uniformed and intelligence personnel in land transportation terminals (buses); as well as increasing the presence of military personnel in toll booths and in a bulky manner and cooperation in active and closed beaches and resorts.

In addition to this, social activities have been authorized and will be carried out during this holiday, explained Brigadier General Rafael Antonio Núñez Veloz, director of Plans and Operations of the Ministry of Defense J-3.

Present at the press conference were the executive president and vice-president of ASONAHORES, David Llibre and Andrés Marranzini, respectively.

Also present were the director of the National Police, Major General Eduardo Alberto Then; the vice minister of Defense for Naval and Coastal Affairs, Ramón Gustavo Betances Hernández; Major General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, general commander of the National Army; Vice Admiral Francisco Sosa Castillo, general commander of the Dominican Navy;

Major General Carlos Ramón Febrillet, commander general of the Dominican Air Force (FAD); the director of the Tourist Police, General Minoru Matsunaga, representatives of the DNCD, Civil Defense, CESAC, DIGESETT, among others.
