Inclusion has been the central theme of the editions of RD Fashion Week.
In this year’s 2022 edition, the event closes in style with parades of prisoners, street children, seniors and people in wheelchairs.
With a great deal of emotion, admiration and respect for vulnerable people, the thirteenth edition of Dominican Republic Fashion Week ended with a runway show dedicated to inclusion.
Designer Melkis Diaz, CEO of RDFW, thanked the companies, sponsors, family, friends and relatives, as well as the team that has accompanied her throughout this Fashion Week 2022.
At the closing of the event were officials from various government institutions, prominent national and international designers, other international figures and sponsors of this important event that promotes the fashion industry as a country brand, among which we can highlight Mr. Samuel Pereyra Rojas, administrator of the Banco de Reservas, who received an award from the hands of Melkis Diaz in appreciation for his great support to this edition. Also recognized were the Banreservas Volunteers, Claudia Zuleta, and José Forteza, among other people and companies that have supported the celebration of this event.
To close the week with a flourish, the “Fashion for Inclusion” fashion show was held, a catwalk composed of older models, plus-size models, children in street situations, people in wheelchairs and people with disabilities. Also, in partnership with the Attorney General’s Office, the parade “For a second chance” was presented, through which more than thirty people deprived of liberty presented designs created by themselves in the different penitentiary centers.
