Caribbean Health TPA (CHTPA) was created with the main objective of attracting patients from the Caribbean islands to receive specialized medical care in the Dominican Republic.
Dr. Rodolfo Núñez-Musa, medical director of CHTPA, when interviewed on the Health Tuesdays of the program El Poder de la Tarde, reported that during the past year the company facilitated the care of more than a thousand cases of patients from Turks and Caicos, Saint Martin, Bahamas and other Caribbean islands, mainly for cardiovascular, oncological, neurological, orthopedic, pediatric and surgical treatments that were carried out in the country.
At the same time, the specialist and researcher informed that as a strategy to attract patients, they have established collaborative telemedicine centers (CTC) in the Caribbean, providing assistance and second medical opinions through the company Caribbean Health Plus.
He announced that these companies will participate in the Sixth International Congress of Health and Wellness Tourism, the main medical tourism event in the region, to be held on November 1 and 2 at the JW Marriott Hotel in the city of Santo Domingo.
He explained that his presence at the congress seeks to generate strategic alliances and to showcase the country’s attributes as a destination for specialized medicine to other potential outbound destinations.
The expert concluded by saying: “Medical tourism is an activity that has been growing stronger year after year in the Dominican Republic and that traditionally was only linked to dental treatments and plastic surgery for patients from the diaspora. However, its scope has expanded and now includes highly complex treatments, given the quality,
cost-effectiveness and initiation of international accreditation processes of the member centers of the Dominican Association of Health Tourism (ADTS).”
