Institutions forces to clean up Puerto Plata coastal area

More than 150 volunteers participated in the cleanup day.

Local institutions joined forces to clean the emblematic area of the Malecón coastline of this city and thus contribute to raising awareness about the importance of conserving the environment.

The entities involved were the provincial directorate of the Ministry of Tourism, the Clean Ocean Foundation, the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Puerto Plata, the Municipal Mayor’s Office, La Aurora Cigars, the Air Base, the Amber Museum and Kora Café.

More than 150 volunteers participated, among them 75 collaborators of La Aurora Cigars, who collected 170 bags of solid waste.

Mileyka Brugal, president of the Chamber of Commerce expressed that the institution through its ecology and environment commission joins in support of the Clean Ocean mission, since it is necessary to generate awareness about the commitment that each citizen must assume.Clean Beach

“This type of day carries the message of responsibility, to make the correct use of waste in a general sense, and prevent the large amount of waste in the seas and oceans, assuming the negative impact that this generates in the environment,” he said.

Johan Bierd, president of Oceano Limpio, affirmed that the institution will continue to reaffirm its commitment to the conservation of the ecosystems, an activity that has been enthusiastically welcomed, motivating more entities to contribute their grain of sand for the benefit of the province and the country.
