Ministry of Sports receives torch of the 53rd edition of the Military and Police Sports Games

The Vice Minister of Sports and Recreation, Franklin De la Mota, on behalf of the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Francisco Camacho, received this Friday the torch of the 53rd edition of the Armed Forces and National Police Sports Games, which will begin on the 31st of this month.

The Olympic torch was handed over by the Olympic medalist in taekwondo, Luisito Pie, member of the Armed Forces and National Police Sports Circle.

The activity was also attended by the president of the Sports Circle, Brigadier General Delio Colón Rosario, of the Army of the DR, accompanied by other members of the Armed Forces.

Recently, as a symbol of the opening of the event, the Olympic torch was lit to mark the beginning of the countdown to the start of the Games.

On that occasion, the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Luciano Díaz Morfa, handed over to the athletes the torch of the sports games, which will travel through the Army, the Navy, the Air Force of the DR, the National Police, the Dominican Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Sports, until it reaches the place where the opening ceremony will take place.

The athletes will fight for the titles of champions in the disciplines of chess, basketball, handball, baseball, boxing, cycling, soccer, golf, judo, karate, weightlifting, table tennis, rifle and pistol shooting, among others.
