AraJet, the new low-cost carrier to fly to DR

The Dominican low-cost airline AraJet will land in Argentina in the next few weeks, joining the low-fare services provided by FlyBondi and JetSmart.

It has already been authorized to operate scheduled flights between Santo Domingo and Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires.

Through Resolution 447/2023 published in the Official Gazette, Argentina’s National Civil Aviation Administration (ANAC) authorized the low-cost carrier to operate.

This will be the first time that a direct connection will be established between the capitals of both countries.

Until now, flights between the two countries were limited to the services provided by Aerolíneas Argentinas, which connect Argentina with Punta Cana.

The resolution signed by the ANAC does not specify the frequency or the type of air equipment to be used, so this will be subject “to what is agreed in the applicable bilateral framework on Air Transport, as well as to the laws and other national and international regulations in force and to the conditions of reciprocity of treatment by the authorities of the Dominican Republic for the flag companies of the Argentine Republic requesting similar services”.

Before starting operations in the country, “the Company must submit to the consideration of the ANAC the tariffs to be applied, the legal insurances, on board books and complaints for its authorization, and the same procedure shall apply to any incorporation, substitution or modification of the commercial capacity of its aircrafts, as well as its insurances, tariffs, change of domicile”, states the resolution.

Arajet had received in March the green light from the Dominican Republic Civil Aviation Board to fly to Buenos Aires as part of an expansion package to the Southern Cone.

The low-cost carrier has already set a start date for these last two cities for September and October respectively. (NA)
