This week: showers, thunderstorms and wind gusts

Since the early hours of the day, downpours with thunderstorms and wind gusts have been recorded over the country, which have been more frequent and intense over provinces near the southern coast of our territory. Currently, satellite and radar observations indicate that these precipitations are present over:

  • La Romana
  • Hato Mayor
  • El Seibo and Greater Santo Domingo

It is expected that in the afternoon other increases in cloudiness will be generated which will continue to generate downpours towards these areas and also towns in the northeast, northwest, Central Cordillera and Cibao Valley regions.

During the night and early morning, scattered showers and thunderstorms will occur over the southern coastal provinces.

For tomorrow, we expect to continue under similar conditions due to the trough that will continue to affect the weather conditions over our nation.

Two tropical waves are being watched, one approaching several hundred kilometers from the Lesser Antilles arc and the other south of the Cape Verde Islands, both with a low probability (around 10% and 30% respectively) of reaching tropical cyclone status in the next 48 hours.
