Banreservas to promote Punta Bergantin megaproject at Fitur

Banco de Reservas (Banreservas) will participate in the International Tourism Fair (Fitur 2024), to be held in Madrid from January 24 to 28, with the aim of promoting development and investment in the DR.

The delegation, headed by the general manager of the banking institution, Samuel Pereyra, has scheduled several business rounds with investors in the sector, both inside and outside the Ifema fairgrounds.

Among the proposals highlighted by Banreservas, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism (Mitur), are the Punta Bergantín project in Puerto Plata, as well as projects aimed at developing the tourist centers of Miches and Pedernales.

Regarding Punta Bergantín, construction of the first two hotels is expected to begin this year, which will be developed by the Spanish capital Grupo Martinón.

Both hotels are in the design phase and are estimated to require an investment of over US$180 million. According to preliminary negotiations, the hotels will operate under the Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara brands.

Banreservas also has as a priority to support investment in the Miches tourism pole, where new projects are projected to exceed US$735 million in public and private investments, according to estimates announced at Fitur 2023.

In addition, as part of the Fitur 2024 agenda, Banreservas will pay “Tribute to the Dominicanidad” during its traditional cocktail party for investors, tour operators and special guests related to the tourism sector, one of the main generators of foreign exchange for the country.

Every year, in addition to its extensive business agenda related to tourism investment in the country, the financial institution carries out activities aimed at promoting Dominican culture and identity within the framework of Fitur.

It is estimated that this year more than 8,500 exhibiting companies and more than 136,000 professionals will participate, according to statistics published on the website of the International Fair.
